Bar Marco is a new restaurant and bar establishment in The Strip District of Pittsburgh. The restaurant focuses on gourmet dishes and signature cocktails, as well as specialty wines. The restaurant isn’t the best place to grab something to eat if you are really hungry, for they serve mainly small plates and appetizers to go with their cocktails and wines. Therefore, be sure to check out Bar Marco for drinks with friends before your dinner reservations.
Cocktails vary depending on what you choose for your liquor base. All cocktails are priced at $10 each, and there are over twenty to choose from! My favorite of my few while dining was the Hayley Mason, which is a mix of vodka, curacao, gum syrup and chocolate bitters. It pairs greatly with the desserts Bar Marco has to offer.
Both the food and cocktail menus are fabulous and made with the finest and freshest ingredients from local farms in the Pittsburgh area. Bar Marco’s food menu is filled with small plates and a few mouth watering desserts. My favorites on the small plates menu is the Patatas Bravas and Lightly Smoked Trout. The Patatas Bravas are crispy fried potatoes smothered in cayenne aioli and is a perfect dish to share for those non-meat eaters. As for the Lightly Smoked Trout, it is grilled to perfection and paired with a quail egg.
The desserts, as said before, are to die for. The Chocolate Panna Cotta is a chocolate and peanut butter mouse topped with cayenne crumble and pairs great with some of the dessert cocktails Bar Marco has to shake up for you.
If you are in the city and looking for a great place to grab drinks and appetizers with friends, Bar Marco is a great place to start your night out on the town, or to stop before heading to your downtown dinner reservations.
