This young, country singer and songwriter has made her mark on the country scene this past year. Kacey Musgraves, 25, released her debut album ‘Same Trailer Different Park’ just short of a year ago, in March of 2013. Her first single hit the radio a few months prior, winning audiences over with her track “Merry Go Round”.
The Texas native is nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Best Country Album, and two nominations in the Best Country Song category for her own single “Merry Go Round” and Miranda Lambert’s “Mama’s Broken Heart”, which she co-wrote. Musgraves is nominated among many other young artists on the rise including indie-electronic artist James Blake and pop artist Ed Sheeran, rapper Kendrick Lamar and hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
The artist on the rise has been singing since the young age of eight years old, and wrote her first song at nine. She released her first three albums all on her own, and is set to kick off touring in the coming month and go all the way through the end of summer alongside Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry. That being said, the country-western singer has the ability to attract all kinds of music listeners, and not just country – something not all artists can say.
Tune into the live 56th Annual Grammy Awards this Sunday, January 26th at 8 pm EST on CBS to find out if Kacey Musgraves takes home the win in one or more of her four nominated categories, and catch her on tour this summer in a city near you!
