“I grew up in Europe, where the history comes from.”
This popular English stand-up comedian, actor and writer is going to enter Milwaukee’s Pabst Theater like a rock star, and bring us into his world, sure to be filled with so many imaginary characters, that at the end of the show it’ll seem as though he isn’t bowing alone.
During this show, Force Majeure, which will be performed on June 10th & 11th, 2014, the laughs will pile on as you’re swept through his stimulating and quick-witted act full of irony, honesty, and plenty of rambling monologues that will leave your eyes full of tears and your abs, well, you can plan to skip your ab workout.
His free-association and jumping between topics keep things unexpected.
“I use a Bruce Lee technique: ‘The way of no way.’ He had the idea that he would learn everything, so that whoever he had to fight, he could improvise anything. The best way of starting a gig is just to not think of anything – to clear your mind, not in an empty Zen state, but more just to go on and see where you go.”
He had a starring role in the television series The Riches as Wayne Malloy and you may remember him from many films such as Ocean’s Twelve, Ocean’s Thirteen, Mystery Men, Shadow of the Vampire, The Cat’s Meow, Across the Universe, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and Valkyrie. He cited his main comedy role model as Monty Python, and John Cleese once referred to him as the “Lost Python”.
Izzard is also known for his transvestism. In his show, Dress to Kill, Izzard describes himself as an “executive”, “action” and “professional” transvestite, as “a male tomboy” rather than a drag queen. He notes that he is “a straight transvestite or a male lesbian”. The fact that he doesn’t hide it makes him stand out as someone who isn’t afraid to be himself and shines brightly among this vast sea of human beings in this world!
Don’t miss this amazing show!
